Linda Finlay characterises herself as belonging to four distinct
professional communities: psychology, occupational therapy, psychotherapy and
phenomenology. In the psychology field she teaches (social) psychology and
qualitative research methodology. In occupational therapy, she is best known
for her textbooks on psychosocial occupational therapy and group work. Now immersed in the psychotherapy world, Linda is currently practicing as a psychotherapist and is in the latter stages of training to become registered as an Integrative Psychotherapist. But it is in the world of phenomenology, that she has found a home. Here she is able to bring her professional identities together through her research on the life world of the therapist and on the lived experience of disability.
